Proudly Serving the Hulet and Devils Tower Community
A total of 28 kids and 12 adults spent uncounted hours cutting, sanding, weighing, finishing and mounting wheels and axles on blocks of wood for the annual CBRangers and Hulett Pine Car Invitational.
The event was held on Sunday, November 24 at First Baptist Church of Hulett following morning worship and a special Thanksgiving meal. Three competitions were held for the brightly colored cars that came in a wide variety of shapes, but all less than seven inches long and under five ounces.
The first competition was for best design according to the following three criteria: best fit with the theme (Jesus is King), best workmanship and most creative.
The winners of Best Design were: third place, Evie Neiman (purple car with the crown of thorns); second place, Amelia Keener (duck and ducklings); and first place, Autumn Fultz (nativity scene).
The second competition was the CBRangers Pine Car Derby for grade schoolers. The winners of this double elimination event were: third place, Amelia Keener (2.470s); second place, Matthew Miller (2.453s); and first place, Secret Palus (2.436s).
The final competition of the day was the Hulett Pine Car Invitational, another double elimination race for everybody who registered a car.
The winners of the invite, who happened to be all grade schoolers, were: third place, Owen Hanshaw (2.458s); second place, Millie Kelley (2.452s); and first place, Bo Rathbun (2.436s).
Congratulations to all who competed and appreciation for all who helped in so many different ways to make the race day a victory for everyone who participated.
