Proudly Serving the Hulet and Devils Tower Community
Carolyn Jean Hook, age 80, of Alva, Wyoming, passed away peacefully, to be with our Lord and surrounded by her family at the Crook County Nursing Home on October 15, 2024.
Carolyn was born on July 23, 1944, in Spearfish, South Dakota to Hulett (Bill) and Evelyn (Emmy) (Howard) Wood. She was an only child, but considered her first cousins, Sharon and Charlotte her sisters, as they fought, like all siblings do with each other.
She started school in Sundance, but then finished her schooling in Hulett, graduating in May of 1962. She then married her lifelong soul mate, Lenord Wayne Hook, on July 8, 1962. To this union two children were born, Roxanna and Melony.
Carolyn grew up as a member of the First Baptist Church in Hulett and was a member of the Crook County Cow Bells for many years. She loved to crochet and knit, making many, many afghans and sweaters for family and friends. She also helped on the ranch in the early years of their marriage doing the riding and haying. Cooking many meals for hunters, she made lifelong friends with many of them. She would cook a meal for anyone who showed up at mealtime and her iced tea was a favorite for all the family and many route drivers, as well!
Carolyn is survived and will be greatly missed by her husband, Lenord; her daughters, Roxanna (Merle) Lossing of Sundance and Melony (Scott) Newlin of Hulett; grandchildren: Wayne (Nicole) Jordan and their girls, Elizabeth, Gabriella and Sadie; Hanson (Marcy) Jordan and their children, Nalani and Tobyn; Dillan (Kate) Jordan and children, Elias, Jaxton, Ivy and Cooper; Casey (Emily) Newlin, their children, Clancey and Emery; Katelyn (Ty) Bischoff and their daughter, Ellie; Daniela (Cameron) Beard; her sister/cousin, Charlotte; nephews, nieces, great nephews, great nieces and too many great greats to list!
She was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Emmy; her in-laws, Paul and Ethel (Dirks) Hook; and her sister/cousin, Sharon.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, October 26, 2024, at the Hulett Civic Center, 145 Main Street in Hulett, Wyoming. Burial will follow in the Alva Cemetery at Alva.
