Absentee voting now open

The final countdown has begun for this year’s presidential election, which means that absentee voting is now open.

The absentee voting period starts 28 days before the November 5 general election, which means it became available on October 8.

If you opt to vote absentee, be aware that your ballot must be returned to the county clerk’s office prior to 7 p.m. on election day.

Any voter registered in Wyoming can request an absentee ballot for the general by providing the county clerk with your full name, date of birth, current residence and mailing address and a statement that you are eligible to vote.

You can do this by calling or visiting the county clerk’s office, printing out the application form and mailing it to the county clerk, emailing the office or visiting https://sos.wyo.gov/Forms/Elections/General/AbsenteeRequestForm-Standard.pdf.

You can collect your ballot from the county clerk’s office at any time before election day or it can be mailed to you.

Your ballot must be returned in person or by mail.

Once your ballot has been received by the county clerk’s office, it is considered voted and you cannot change your vote. However, if you mark your ballot and change your mind before sending it in, you can destroy it and request a new one or vote in person.
