Lavern Sell passed away August 3, 2024, at the age of 92.
Lavern was born November 25, 1931, in Wagner, South Dakota to Clarence and Katherine Sell. He grew up on a ranch near Keya Paha, South Dakota. He was the third born of nine boys and three girls.
Lavern married Wanda Crawford on June 8, 1955, near Clearfield, South Dakota. They had four children, Waneta Sell, Linda (Todd) Spath, Lamoine (Mary) Sell and Lonnie Sell.
Lavern owned the Standard Station in Sundance, Wyoming, in the late '50s. He worked at Tracy Motor Co. in Sundance for ten years. At times he was deputized to help control the Saturday night dance crowd.
Also, in 1965 he bought the ranch south of Sundance. He was also the Crook County Weed and Pest supervisor from 1976-1979.
Lavern is survived by his children; four brothers, Roy (Nancy), Jack (Delilah), Jim (Janice), Leonard (Phyllis); three sisters, Katherine Mann, Beryl Dvorak and Mary Schrader; sister-in-law, Betty Sell; seven grandchildren, Shelly Reimann (Rudy), Shon McDonald (Amy), T.J. Evans (Kara) Clint Sell (Raesha), Rachel Adam (Doug), Kate Alderson (Tom), and Colt Sell; 14 great-grandchildren with one more arriving soon; Jazmine McDonald, Rowdy Reimann, Shelbe and Parker McDonald, Porter and Kai Evans, Cordell and Faith Sell, Josie, Zane and Rex Adam, Wrenley Alderson, Kyler and Orin Sell; and many nieces and nephews.
Lavern is preceded in death by four brothers, Clarence, Harold, Bill and Jerry; two sisters-in-law, Thelma and Ann; three brothers-in-law, Bud Mann, Roger Dvorak and Ivan Shrader; daughter-in-law, Debbie Sell; and son-in-law, Rod Hacker.
Graveside services will be August 17, 2024, at 11 a.m. at the Green Mountain Cemetery with lunch to follow at Sundance Senior Center.
