Taking down the damaged tree.
The tree that had to be taken down was one of the tallest in the park.
Nobody likes to cut down a mature, old tree, but the Town of Hulett had to take down one in their town park. A tree that was struck by lightning last summer started showing signs of deterioration and dying.
The Town was proactive and decided to take down the tree before a limb fell off and hurt someone or damaged other property. Part of the tree is still in the park and the company that cut it down carved a bench to try to preserve some and make it useful.
