HFD responds to fire at Bearlodge Forest Products
What began as smoke quickly grew to a full-fledged fire.
Flames quickly engulfed equipment.
The Hulett volunteer fire department was dispatched to a fire at the Bearlodge Forest Products sawmill on Sunday. A Hulett resident called 911 at 10:45 a.m. when he saw smoke as he was headed out of town.
The Hulett fire department and ambulance responded and, with the help of the firefighters, friends and residents, the fire was contained fairly quickly. The part of the sawmill that was on fire was the furnace area and was fully engulfed when the department arrived.
According to Fire Chief Jack Johnson it was contained in about 15 minutes. Damage to the business is still being assessed.
