Turkey shoot returns

The annual Old West Invitational Turkey Shoot was held last week, May 2-4 in Hulett. Hunters came from all over the United States to harvest a Merriam turkey at the one-shot event.

Hosted by the Greater Hulett Community Center and many sponsors of all levels, this event is crucial in keeping the GHCC operating and open to the public.

Wednesday night kicked off the shoot with the Swon Brothers and the Potters performing at the 77 Steakhouse at the Golf Course in Hulett. The event officially started Thursday night with a meet and greet and the announcement of the Youth contest, with Dylan Williams as this year's winner.

The banquet is held on Friday night with a live and silent auction held. Veterans invited to the event were introduced and special guest Tris Munsick sang the National Anthem.

Also on Friday night, the Lloyd Pruett scholarship winners were announced. This year, Ahnya Ivie-Moody and Karson Amos were chosen.

This year's special guests were Gov. Mark Gordon, The Swon Brothers, Tris Munsich and Veterans Sid Keller, John Costello, April Grady, Tray Lange Brian Grady, Ted Emmons, Tim Hower, Richard Watson and Jimmy Roberts.

A live and silent auction were held completing Friday night events. Saturday wrapped up with additional morning hunting followed by the awards ceremony and lunch.

This was the 14th Annual Turkey Shoot.
