The Absaroka District of WyoParks (including Keyhole State Park, Fort Phil Kearny State Historic Site, and Trail End State Historic Site) will be hosting over 60 public events throughout the remainder of the 2024 year.
In-house interpretive and site staff, friends groups and partnering agencies and organizations will facilitate these events.
Keyhole State Park will proudly be hosting a series of hikes throughout the summer to promote its recent and continuing trail expansion and development. Visitors are encouraged to attend the Kickoff to Summer event – which will have a “Hiking into Summer” theme and an Annual Day Use Permit giveaway – to kick-off another great summer!
Other special events include a night hike, a Raptor Program with the Black Hills Raptor Center, stargazing with the International Planetarium Society, an educational program with the WyoParks Ambassador Ferrets and several Paddle in the Park events.
Fort Phil Kearny State Historic Site will be offering an increased number of programs this year with a new focus on accessibility and utilizing its outdoor spaces for recreation. There will be an American Sign Language guided tour, two Visually Impaired Tours and several guided hikes including hikes to the top of Pilot Knob, Women’s Hikes and a night hike.
Other educational talks and programs will be offered such as a Care of the Wounded program, Post Cemetery Tour and events offered by the Fort Phil Kearny/Bozeman Trail Association.
Trail End State Historic Site in partnership with the Trail End Guilds will be offering new events this year in addition to its beloved annual events. The Summer Evening at the Mansion, Murder Mystery, Vintage Car Show, Holiday Open House and Christmas with the Kendricks events will be returning this year and will be better than ever. In addition, the historic site will be offering an American Sign Language guided tour, two Visually Impaired Tours, and exclusive White Glove Tours.
