Proudly Serving the Hulet and Devils Tower Community

Donna Mae Waugh

Donna Mae Waugh entered the gates of Heaven on February 3, 2024 at the age of 89. She was born November 8, 1934, the eldest of four children born to Fred W. and Hilda F. Tschetter at Aladdin, Wyoming.

As a child the family moved frequently, finally settling in Sundance, Wyoming where Donna attended school in "Old Stoney", graduating valedictorian of her class in 1952. She then attended Black Hills State Teachers College in Spearfish, South Dakota. After graduating, she taught at Lame Jones country school.

During this time, she met a local boy from Hulett, Wyoming, Lester (Les) E. Waugh. After six weeks of courtship, they were married in the Lutheran Church in Spearfish, South Dakota on February 22, 1953.

Les and Donna lived in Hulett for a short time before moving to Sundance, where they were blessed with five daughters. Donna held many odd jobs throughout her life but her main job was a homemaker and mother, trying to keep up with "her girls" and later, her grandchildren.

Donna had an innate ability to see positive in any situation that came her way. She never knew a stranger, showing love and compassion to all.

Children loved "Nan", as she was known to her grandchildren. She had a special gift with children, quieting fussy babies like no other and getting down on the floor to play with toddlers – even up into her 80s!

Many children and teenagers alike enjoyed spending time in her home. She loved to bake and seldom even used recipes!

She took delight in her flowers and angel figurines. We all know she is now rocking and snuggling two very special angels, Theo and Noah, in Heaven.

Cherishing the memories she left us with are her daughters and their husbands: Cindy (Mark) Duca of Sundance, Susan (Dean) Kettley of Newcastle, Wyoming, Vicky (Tod) Vineyard of Sundance, Janet (Lance) Buer Carlile, Wyoming, Leslie (Lonnie) Robinson of Casper, Wyoming; 15 grandchildren; 18 great and 2 great-great grandchildren; brother, Fred D. Tschetter; sister Peggy (Gary) Jensen; brothers-in-law, Beryl Jensen and Leslie Waugh; numerous nieces/nephews and many friends.

Donna was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lester; sister, Patsy Jensen; sisters-in-law, Marylou Tschetter and Elaine Waugh; brothers-in-law and their spouses, Hank (Valgene), Lee (Harriet), Charlie (Mona), Johnny (Lois), Louie (Clarice) Waugh; nephews, Troy and Boyd Jensen, Jim, Jerry, Ted, Ron, Tom, Steve Waugh; and twin great-great grandsons, Noah and Theodore Holmes.

In lieu of flowers, the family has established a memorial to Old Stoney Restoration in Donna's memory.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, February 24, 2024 at the United Methodist Church in Sundance. Burial will take place at Green Mountain Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the care of Fidler-Roberts & Isburg Funeral Chapel of Sundance.
