Proudly Serving the Hulet and Devils Tower Community
As a festive spin on its annual efforts to assist the community with disposing of its unwanted goods, Crook County Natural Resource District (CCNRD) invites you to bring your used and broken Christmas lights to the office to be taken to Rapid City for recycling.
“For this event, it is only string lights and extension cords,” says Bridget Helms, Office Manager. “We can’t accept anything else at this time.”
The idea came about, says Helms, when CCNRD heard that Rapid City is taking these items for free recycling.
“I asked EchoWorks at Western Dakota Tech if we could also bring items to be recycled and we can, so we have decided to offer to transport items to Rapid City for folks who aren’t able to make it over there… since we have a vehicle already going there for a meeting in January,” she says.
Bring your string lights and extension cords to the CCNRD office between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Monday through Wednesday until January 16.
If you aren’t able to visit CCNRD before the deadline, Rapid City will continue to accept items until the end of January. Locations include Ace Hardware East and West, Boyds East and West, Western Dakota Tech, Menards, City Hall, Fleet Farm, Rapid City Public Library, RC Hardware, the Education Center at the landfill, Rapid City Restore, Roosevelt Swim Center and Runnings.
