Patsy Ann Jensen

Patsy Ann Jensen, age 86 was called home to the Lord on November 27, 2023.

Patsy was born on November 24, 1937, in Garrison, North Dakota to Fred and Hilda Tschetter. She is survived by her siblings sister Donna Waugh, brother Fred D. Tschetter and sister Peggy (Gary) Jensen.

Patsy graduated from Sundance High School as the class Salutatorian on May 18, 1955. Patsy was very involved within her high school. She was a Sundance Cheerleader, involved in the Pep Club, FHA President, Class Vice President, on the Student Council, Member of National Honor Society, played in the school band and sang in the choir.

Patsy attended college at Saint John's McNamara School of Nursing in Rapid City, South Dakota. She graduated nursing school, with honors, in 1958.

Patsy married Larry McLaughlin. They had two children, Rick (Jeralyn) Mclaughlin and Terri (Duane) Thompson. After the two divorced, Patsy met Beryl Jensen. Beryl and Patsy married in 1976. She happily welcomed Beryl's five children into her life, Becky Garwood, Brenda (Cody) Johnson, Beth Jackson, Barry Jensen and Boyd Jensen. Beryl and Patsy celebrated 47 years this year. Patsy was a devoted loving wife.

Patsy was a loving Grandma. She is survived by 14 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren.

Patsy had a wonderful and rewarding career as a nurse for 40 plus years. She was the school nurse at Sundance Elementary, and Sundance High School. She helped open up Crook County Hospital as one of the Lead Nurses. She and Beryl moved to Battle Mountain, Nevada in 1990. Patsy worked as a nurse at Battle Mountain General Hospital and worked in Winnemucca, Nevada at Humboldt General Hospital. After their time in Nevada, they then relocated back to Sundance, Wyoming. Patsy then would go back to Sundance Clinic to work part time before she retired. She helped and cared for so many over the years. She had the biggest heart.

Patsy was a very genuine loving person. She was a loving daughter, sister, wife, aunt, grandma, cousin and friend. We needed her for so many reasons. She showed us so much strength as she battled her disease. She showed us perseverance, encouragement, and hope.

Patsy was a woman of her word. When she spoke, we listened. She had the sweetest and softest voice. She never spoke out of turn. Most times she was listening and not speaking. She was always calm and collected.

At the young age of 55, Patsy and Beryl retired and became snowbirds in Parker, Arizona for around 25 wonderful years. Patsy had a passion for traveling. She got to do more after retirement. She loved seeing her great-grandchildren being born. Patsy spent a lot of time in retirement making hand crafted items, caring for all of her beautiful flower gardens and baking award winning baked goods. She created over 800 beautiful pine needle baskets, crocheted, knitted afghans, made butterflies, made photo albums, hand crafted specialty cards and necklace holders. Her hands created many masterpieces that we all get to enjoy today.

During the summers Patsy and Beryl would relocate back to their home in Sundance. "The Folks Place," as their children call it. Beryl and Patsy built a beautiful cabin. This cabin was the perfect home, a home we will all remember. A home filled with so many memories and so much love. Patsy would spend a lot of her time on her porch. She loved to sit on her porch and look at her beautiful flowers. Particularly her peonies. In the distance she loved looking at Inyan Kara and the beautiful Black Hills. She was at peace on her porch with her dog Sophie Lou and Beryl.

Patsy lived a beautiful life. Family meant everything to Patsy. She gave a lot of time and sacrifice to her family. She put her family first. She loved all of us with her whole heart.

Each passing day we will be reminded of what she loved and how genuine she was. We will also remember the legacy she left behind and the beautiful life she lived as a devoted Christian woman. We will miss her but will find comfort knowing she is free from pain and suffering. We will take care of Grandpa and Sophie Lou like she would want us to.

Patsy is preceded in death by her parents; brother-in-law Lester Waugh; sister-in-law Marylou Tschetter; son Boyd Jensen; grandchild Bruce Tiedemann; great-grandchild Mckayla McLaughlin and nephew Troy Jensen.

A funeral service was held on December 4, 2023, at the United Methodist Church, Sundance. Burial immediately followed the service at Mount Moriah Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Old Stoney Building in Sundance, in memory of Patsy.
