Raymond Osloond Sr.

On Friday, June 23, 2023, Raymond Osloond Sr. "Stretch", 93, passed away at his home with his son by his side.

Raymond was born on August 16, 1929 in Belle Fourche, South Dakota, to parents William and Rena (Rishor) Osloond.  He was drafted into the United States Army on November 4, 1950.

He left his home near Mona, Wyoming, for base camp in California, boarded the USNS Marine Phoenix, sailed to Japan and then to Korea where he served in the Korean War. After returning, Stretch married his sweetheart Mary Ellen Davis on August 12, 1953. They welcomed their son Ray Ray to the world in 1959.  

Throughout his life Stretch had many jobs. He was a cowpuncher, mechanic, truck driver, body repair man, fireman, oil rig floor hand, commercial fisherman and salesman.

He opened Stretch's Glass in 1971. He retired in 1981 when his son took over the business.

In retirement, Stretch enjoyed gardening with Mary Ellen, and trips to Alaska. Stretch and Mary Ellen's door was always open for friends to stop in to visit, enjoy a cup of coffee and share a meal.

Raymond was preceded in death by his parents, William and Rena (Rishor) Osloond; his sister Helen Ausmann of Tigard, Oregon; his brother Floyd Osloond of Lead, South Dakota; his beloved wife Mary Ellen Osloond of Spearfish, South Dakota. 

He is survived by his son Raymond Osloond Jr. (Deborah Rawlins) of Rochford, South Dakota; his brother-in-law Ralph (Helen) Ausmann of Milwaukee, Oregon; sister-in-law Laurene (Floyd) Osloond of South Point, Ohio; grandson Edward (Danielle) Osloond of Central City, South Dakota; granddaughter Mikala (Nathan) Carsten of Billings, Montant; grandson William (Micha) Osloond of Marble Falls, Texas; and great-grandchildren Jagger, Cade, Jett, Brixton and Harper.

A graveside service will be held at Greenwood Cemetery, Crook County, Wyoming, on Sunday, July 9 at 10 a.m.
