Americanism Contest winners announced

This year the American Legion Auxiliary Unit #80 hosted the Americanism Writing and Coloring Contest. This is open to all students K-12 in private, public and homeschooled.

Grades K-2 participated in a coloring contest with the following winners:

Kindergarten: 1st Abby Knapp, 2nd Sutton Neiman, 3rd Lexie Walters

1st Grade: 1st Jaxson Diddier, 2nd Felicity and 3rd Eli Meidinger

2nd Grade: 1st Ellen Wood, 2nd Taysen Wolfskill, 3rd AJ Williams

Grades 3-5 participated in a poem contest. The students were expected to write a couplet poem consisting of five to eight couplets expressing "The Meaning of the Poppy." The winners were:

4th Grade: 1st Clayton Sandidge, 2nd Hannah Fowler and 3rd Bridger Ista

Grades 6-12 participated in an essay contest. This year's essay was: "According to the Declaration of Independence as well as the Constitution of the United States; where does our liberty come from? In your opinion, should we as a country still be looking to that source for our liberty today?" Winners are:

6th Grade: 1st Cedar Palm, 2nd Madison Willems and 3rd Emma Ista.
