James Birney Frisbee, Jr.

James Birney Frisbee, Jr., age 75, passed away on November 24, 2022 at Monument Health hospital in Rapid City, South Dakota. He was born April 14, 1947 at Sundance, Wyoming, to James Birney Frisbee, Sr. and Enid Alice (Wilson) Frisbee, the youngest of four children. He was known by his family and friends as Jim or Jimmy.

He attended grade school in Sundance and country school at New Haven and high school in Hulett, graduating in 1965.

Growing up, Jim helped his father and brother on their ranch at New Haven after school, on weekends and summers. He also helped his mother, who was Postmaster at the New Haven Post Office, which was located in the front porch of their home.

After graduating from high school, he worked may jobs. His passion was driving truck. He drove for Dixon Brothers and Wegg Trucking in Newcastle, Wyoming and Transystems Trucking in Golconda, Nevada. He also worked at Hycroft Gold Mine in Winnemucca, Nevada.

Jim had other passions as well as driving truck. He had a love for being outdoors, hunting, fishing, camping, working in flower beds, reading books, going to rodeos and bowling.

He was on men's bowling leagues and mixed leagues in Newcastle and Winnemucca.

Jim would sit for hours in the summer in the front yard reading books, watching cattle and wildlife and cars driving by.

Jim married Elnora "Ellie" Shepard on February 2, 1979. He raised four children, Kaydee, Jeremy, Jennifer and Joshua.

He is survived by his wife, Elnora "Ellie"; children, Kaydee Frisbee, Jeremy Shepard, Jennifer (Marco) Solares and Joshua Frisbee; three grandchildren, Daryan (Scott) McKnight, Makenzie Veith and Lima Frisbee; two great grandsons, Beau and Ryker McKnight; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents; parents; two sisters, Gladys Clark and Betty Cundy; his brother, Harry Frisbee; two brothers-in-law, Willis Clark and Walter Cundy and sister-in-law, Clara Frisbee.

Celebration of Life will be Saturday, April 15, 2023, at the Greater Hulett Community Center in Hulett at 10 a.m. A potluck lunch will follow served by the Hulett Assembly of God Church and Buttons and Bows Homemakers Club. Burial will be at the New Haven Cemetery at a later date.

Donations will go to the Hulett EMS and the New Haven Community Building.
