Once again, the students of Crook County have outdone the state average with a graduation rate for the 2021-2022 school year of 90.6%.
This places Crook County School District among the top 15 in the state.
Overall, graduation rates in Wyoming have been statistically strong over the last decade, staying above 81% since 2014 according to the Wyoming Department of Education (WDE).
This year’s state average was 81.8%, down slightly from 82.4% in 2020-2021, which was the highest in the nine-year span.
A total of 77 students graduated in Crook County at the end of the last school year. Hulett School reported a 100% graduation rate, while Sundance High School saw 86.7% of students graduate and Moorcroft High School graduated 88.9% of students.
Graduation rates were up from last year in Crook County, when WDE reported that 87.2% of students graduated.
However, Superintendent Mark Broderson has cautioned in the past that year-to-year fluctuations in graduation rates can be a little misleading. When dealing with a low number of students, small differences can make an outsized impact on the statistics.
Broderson is pleased with the district’s continued success in graduating its students.
“Our teachers and staff work very hard to provide support for all students and to hopefully see them leave high school with a diploma,” he says.
“Our staff works hard to make sure our students are graduating with a high-quality education. We are grateful for them and our communities.”
“As the saying goes, it takes a village to raise a child,” he continues. “Many people come together to provide support before a student walks across the stage at graduation. Our goal will always be to reach 100% graduation rate and see every student leave not only with a diploma, but with the skills necessary to follow whatever path in life they choose.”
