Crook County Library will host the program "In the Company of Thomas Jefferson" by Tom Pitz on Wed., July 6 at 7 p.m. in the library meeting room in Sundance. The program is free and open to the public.
"Mr. Thomas Jefferson of Monticello will speak to and converse with visitors from the far western territory on the occasion of the 46th anniversary of approval of the Declaration of Independence. Mr. Jefferson, who after eight years, retired from his elected office as chief Executive of these United States to return to his native home in Albemarle County, Virginia, served as the primary draughtsman of the said document. His recollections and comments about the times and events that led to this founding document should rekindle the patriotic zeal demonstrated by Mr. Jefferson and his fellow patriots during much more onerous times than those we face today."
Tom Pitz is a historical re-enactor performing around the country as Thomas Jefferson, the third President of the United States. Mr. Pitz's performances offer an entertaining glimpse into the comments and attitudes of one of America's most influential, yet controversial, Founding Fathers.
Long an aficionado of Revolutionary Era history, Mr. Pitz has been performing as Mr. Jefferson since 1987. He has amassed a list of clients that ranges from corporate executives and medical faculty to elementary school students.
He considers it an honor and a privilege to bring one of America's greatest historical figures back to life.
