No matter who wins at this year’s elections, the Crook County Courthouse is set to see some significant changes. As candidate filing closes for the year, several incumbents within the county offices have opted not to run for another term.
Running for the first time – all unopposed on the Republican ballot – will be Julie Altaffer for Clerk of District Court, Tammy Jundt for Crook County Treasurer, Dan Thomas for Crook County Assessor and Melissa Jones for Crook County Clerk.
Also unopposed are two courthouse incumbents. Jeff Hodge will run again for Crook County Sheriff on the Republican ballot and Joe Baron for Crook County and Prosecuting Attorney on the Democratic ballot.
Fred Devish and Jeanne Whalen will run again for their seats on the Crook County Commission, challenged by Bob Latham. Mike Frolander will seek to retain his position as Crook County Coroner, challenged by Everett Zimmerschied.
At the state level, three candidates will vie for the position of Senator for House District 1, including incumbent Ogden Driskill, Roger Connett of Sundance and Bill Fortner of Gillette.
No candidates have filed to run against Chip Neiman, who will stand to retain his seat as Representative for House District 1.
Republican candidates for Wyoming’s seat in the U.S. House of Representatives include incumbent Liz Cheney, as well as Harriet Hageman of Cheyenne, Anthony Bouchard of Cheyenne, Denton Knapp of Gillette and Robyn M. Belinskey of Sheridan.
On the Democratic ballot, candidates include Lynnette GreyBull of Fort Washakie, Meghan R. Jensen of Rock Springs and Steve Helling of Casper.
Four Republican candidates have filed for the governor’s race, including incumbent Mark Gordon. Running against him will be Brent Bien of Sheridan, James Scott Quick of Douglas and Rex Rammell of Rock Springs.
On the Democratic ticket for the gubernatorial race is Theresa A. Livingston of Worland and Rex Wilde of Cheyenne.
For the position of Secretary of State, incumbent Ed Buchanan announced he would not be running again. Competing for the position on the Republican ballot will be Dan Dockstader of Afton, Chuck Gray of Casper, Mark Armstrong of Centennial and Tara Nethercott of Cheyenne.
State Auditor Kristi Racines will run to retain her seat with no challengers on the Republican ballot. No Democratic candidates have filed.
State Treasurer Curt Meier will run against Bill Gallop of Cheyenne for the Republican nomination. No Democratic candidates have filed.
Five Republican candidates will seek the position of Superintendent of Public Instruction, including incumbent Brian Schroeder. Thomas Kelly of Sheridan, Jennifer Zerba of Casper, Robert J. White III of Rock Springs and Megan Degenfelder of Laramie have also filed to run.
Sergio Maldonado of Lander will appear on the Democratic ballot for this race.
