2022 Americanism coloring contest and essay winners announced

Once again, the American Legion Auxiliary Unit #80 hosted the Americanism essay and coloring sheet contest for grades K-12.

This contest is open to all students (Homeschool, Private and Public) each year.

Grades K-2 were given coloring sheets that had Patriotic scenes and quotes from great American leaders and patriots. On the back of the coloring page, they were encouraged to write a sentence or two about how they would thank a Veteran for their service to our great country.

Grades 3-6 were to write an essay to answer this question: "Why was the Declaration of Independence written? Do you think this was a necessary step we needed to take as a country? Why?"

Grades 7-12 were to write an essay to answer the question: "The first amendment to the Constitution guarantees several rights. Do your research and discuss which of the rights is/are the most important in your opinion."

Class 3 (7th-8th grade): First place Brooklyn Palus

Class 4 (9th -10th grade): First place Zac Palus; second place Abby Palus

Class 5 (11th – 12th grade): First place Cassy Palus; second place Kaylee Palus
