Competitors were in Cheyenne last weekend for the 2023 State Horseshoe Tournament. Sanctioned Wyoming Horseshoe Pitching Association members came from all over the state for the competition. Hulett hosted a horseshoe tournament last weekend at the recreation grounds. Eleven competitors in two different groups competed. Class A: Lorado Reetz first, Jack Mings second and Thebea Thomas third. Class B was a three-way tie between Dan Cahill, Kris Huven and John Paul Wondercheck but Dan forfeited his tie breaker and John Paul won his and Kris' tie breaker game. The Hulett swim program had 34 participants for swimming lessons at the Belle Fourche Rec Center this year. We endured the ride from Hulett each day with our wonderful bus driver Amber Kaplan, and a couple parent volunteers who joined each day to keep kids safe as they traveled. Congratulations to the Hulett High School Clay Target League trap team for a season well done. Nicholas Penning, formerly of Hulett, can now say he's run the Boston Marathon. Penning started running around junior high for track but started to seriously consider the sport later in high school after his 1600-meter state championship win during his junior year in Hulett. Eighteen teams of four hit the streets of Hulett for Urban Golf. What is Urban Golf? Hitting tennis balls with golf clubs on the streets. Golf does not have to be on a manicured golf course, it can be on sand courses all over this country or can be played on the streets of your local town.
