This weekend will be the annual Ride a Horse Feed a Cowboy, which will be benefiting Katie Moody this year. The weekend will begin with the goat roping on Friday night at the Hulett recreation grounds at 6 p.m. On Saturday, the fun will begin at 3 p.m. with the bronc and bareback riding rodeo. Admission is $15 for this event. Following the rodeo, there will be a cowboy taco supper followed by auctions. The night will end with DJ Andy Bears playing all the musical hits....

State’s unemployment rate holds steady at 2.9% CASPER (WNE) — Wyoming’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate held steady at 2.9% from June to July, the Research & Planning section of the Wyoming Department of Workforce Services reported Monday. This year's Ham 'n Jam was a bit chilly for riders as they came off 100 degree temperatures to 70 on rally Wednesday. As usual, the week-long build up to Wednesday saw busy days prior to Wednesday and after. Wednesday, Hulett filled up as expected and bikers were leathered up. The Hulett branch library ended their raffle on Friday and drew for the Freida Dent quilt. The lucky winner was Ann McDonnell. This quilt was made out of rally t-shirts that Freida Dent had acquired over many years. Freida loved the rally and worked in the library for many years. Filing is now open for the special district seats to be chosen at the general election in November. This year, seats will be elected for the school, medical services, museum, natural resources and senior citizen districts. Four seats are open for Crook County School District, all for four-year terms. Candidates may file to run for a Hulett, Moorcroft or one of two Sundance district trustee positions. Fire Warden Charlie Harrison and the Crook County Commissioners have made the decision to upgrade the county fire restrictions to stage two. At this time, the fire situation throughout the county is considered to be severe to extreme due to a heavy fuel load and dry conditions.
