A series of public meetings has been scheduled for January to solicit input on plans to potentially introduce zoning to Crook County. These meetings will form the next step of the county’s exploration of whether zoning would suit this county in the light of the high level of development that has gone on over the last few years, and will aim to gauge exactly where the public stands on the issue. Meetings will take place in all four municipalities throughout January, led by a facilitator, and will focus on options for growth management. A c...

Our Thanks The students from the Alzada School in Alzada, MT have been doing some fundraising to raise money to purchase new playground equipment. The students got to vote on what they wanted to see added and it was decided that they would raise money to purchase a single piece of equipment called Overdrive. It is like a merry-go-round but instead of sitting/standing on it, the kids will hold on to the handles and hang from it. It can hold up to six kids at a time. The faster the kids run, the f...
If a flood washes away homes or a tornado damages outbuildings, every county in Wyoming is expected to have a plan in place with which to handle it. The Regional Hazard Mitigation Plan details exactly what Campbell, Crook, Johnson, Sheridan and Weston counties are doing to minimize the impacts of the many hazards that could potentially impact this area. The newest draft of this plan, which must be updated every five years, is now available for public comment. It details each hazard, from drought, hazardous materials and dam failures to...

The director clarified the differences in request were not due to different opinions on spending. “We worked with the governor and his staff quite...
CASPER — A mine exploration project in Halleck Creek was ranked as one of the top ten critical mineral sites on the planet after assay results earlier this year revealed exceptionally high levels of rare earth elements.
