A donation to the Hulett School has made it possible to erect beautiful new playground equipment. Old equipment was taken down and the new equipment was put up with the help of company representatives and volunteers from the school and town. The official tallies appear to show a record-breaking turnout for Crook County at the general election, with a total of 4368 ballots cast. Chronic Wasting Disease has been identified in an elk hunt area at the border of Crook County. Elk Hunt Area 126 begins at the border to the southwest of the county and travels south through much of Weston and Niobrara and west into Converse. The hunt area is bordered by seven other elk areas that are now known to be positive for CWD, including 117 and 129, both of which are partially in Crook County. Crook County School District (CCSD) will be hosting events to help kids avoid the dangers of opioid addiction, thanks to grant funding through the county. According to Superintendent Mark Broderson, an incident took place on the Moorcroft campus in early October and “opioids were part of that problem”. The Hulett Recreation Board will be holding their annual craft fair on November 23 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Greater Hulett Community Center in Hulett. Fees are $20 for an 8 ft. space/table, $10 for an additional space/table.
