    Local country artist Jim Traversie will be inducted into the Legends of Dakota Country Music Hall of Fame on Sept. 29, 2024 in Rapid City at the Moose Lodge at 2 p.m. Traversie along with 15 others will receive the honor.     Congratulations go to Kenneth Klinger, Hulett Library's patron highlight this month! We see Kenny at least once a week at the library. He is known to be a handyman around the library, putting shelves, chairs and various pieces of furniture together for us. The newspapers are his go to every week. He can be seen reading them in his favorite chair. He also is an avid book reader and an audio cd listener.   • Rock climber killed in fall from Devils Tower

    A rock climber is reported to have died after falling from Devils Tower on Sunday. According to a statement from the National Park Service, Devils Tower National Monument, 21-year-old Stewart Phillip Porter of Eau Claire, WI, sustained major injuries after falling from the second pitch of El Cracko Diablo. Devils Tower Law Enforcement was informed of the accident at the Tower at around 8 p.m. and located Porter and his climbing partner approximately 40 minutes later.     Dear Editor, On the evening of August 19, a very severe wind and rain storm moved through our area with winds recorded at 90 mph. It was only a mile or two wide. It broke ten power poles just over the hill from me. It broke a large tree in front of a granary and did other major damage. I reported that our power was out. In less than an hour we could hear radios and people talking nearby and we had power in three hours.
