If you have driven by Mercantile 307 in Hulett, hopefully you've noticed the artwork on the side of the building. Anna Swanson, who has been working at Devils Tower Lodge, is turning a boring brick wall into a work of art. She says she's thankful for the opportunity to do this mural and that it's proven to be intimidating more than a few times, but that's what makes it fun. "I started doing large format artwork a few years ago with a couple of murals in Jackson Hole and a few of the tipis at...
It will be around three months before the county’s new rules for large subdivisions kick in, but the wording of the regulations ensure that any development started before that time will still have to meet the appropriate standards. The Crook County Commissioners convened in a special meeting last week to discuss the large acreage subdivision regulations, consider the public comments received and ultimately adopt the new rules via resolution. According to that resolution, the commission felt it necessary to create the regulations because the c...
At the request of Commissioner Kelly Dennis – himself acting on behalf of a “concerned citizen” in Hulett – a letter has been sent to the Wyoming Game & Fish Commission to request a new approach to a predator problem in the area. Dennis told his fellow commissioners that there is currently an issue with lions around Hulett, and the concerned citizen on whose behalf he was raising the issue does not feel that the game warden’s approach of “avoid it and it will go away” is sufficient. He requested that the county write and submit a letter asking...

Each class Kindergarten through fifth grade, has been assigned a herb to grow in their classroom. Herbs are easily grown, low maintenance plants that are perfect for growing in classrooms year-round. The FFA has drastically reduced in active participant numbers the last few years. The idea for this plan is to get kids interested in the FFA so our program doesn't dwindle and die out. Chapter...

LARAMIE — The way University of Wyoming students and administrators approach tuition will change next year. The UW Board of Trustees gave the green light for two recommendations from administrators Thursday: increase tuition by 4% and transition to a block tuition model starting in the 2023-24 school year. While students now pay tuition per credit hour they take, a block tuition model will introduce a lump sum students pay regardless of the number of credits.
