    Another family in need of support due to illness expenses was helped last weekend through the annual Ride a Horse Feed a Cowboy. This year, Katie Moody and family was the beneficiary. Katie was diagnosed with breast cancer for a second time last year. The Moodys have been a big supporter of the local community and never hesitate to give a helping hand.     Devils Tower National Monument opened back up just a couple of days after a temporary closure caused by hail damage. The storm on the evening of August 19 brought down numerous trees, damaged buildings, campers and vehicles and made many of the trails impassable. Significant damage was also reported at the KOA campground next to the Tower and surrounding businesses.     Our patron highlight for the month of August is Laura Moose. Besides being an avid reader, Laura participates in book discussion. She is also a member of the Friends of the Library and enjoys coming to our craft classes. We were also lucky enough to have Laura help with the Summer Program this year.     Four local youth brought home Champion Titles from the Wyoming State Fair in Douglas. Dixey Rathbun earned Champion Junior 4-H Showman with her steer, Albert. Elizabeth Jordan earned Champion FFA Beef Showman with her T3 Angus Heifer as well as Grand Champion AORB Bull in the Open Beef Show. Todd passed away surrounded by loved ones due to complications from a severe traumatic brain injury on Tuesday, August 20, 2024 in Aurora, Colorado. Gerald and Jacquie McInerney welcomed Todd into their lives in Spearfish, South Dakota, on January 1, 1964.     Florida man gets 15 years for fatal crash GILLETTE (WNE) — A truck driver from Florida who was found with beer cans in his cab after crashing into and killing another driver north of Gillette has been sentenced to up to 15 years in prison. Nicholas L. Alvarez, 39, on Aug. 15 received an imposed 8.5- to 15-year sentence for aggravated vehicular homicide, according to court documents. Alvarez pleaded guilty to the charge in May.
