    A sizeable fire northwest of Hulett had been fully contained by Monday morning, thanks to the combined efforts of local, state and federal firefighters. Located northwest of Hulett, the Creek Fire was reported late in the afternoon of June 11 and is believed to have been caused by lightning, according to Incident Commander Karsten Milek.     Ellie Jay, Hulett, and Shannon Gilmartin, Sundance, participated in Wyoming Girls State June 9-15, in Cheyenne. Willow Lindholm, Sundance, was elected Girls State Governor last year and presided over this year's camp. Girls State is a week-long government and leadership camp.     Inez Arlene Hauber went to be with the Lord and her cowboy, Walter, on June 13, 2024. She was born on August 5, 1933, in Hulett, Wyoming, to Edward and Inez (Stockton) Fowlkes. She was born at home in a one-bedroom cabin, weighing less than three pounds. Her father wrapped her up and put her in the oven of a wood burning cook stove to keep her warm. She was raised with three brothers, Don, Bob and Melvin. She was raised in a shack with three little rooms with no electricity or running water.... Full story

    Wayne S. Conklin, 80, Spearfish, South Dakota, passed away on Saturday, June 8, 2024 at Spearfish Canyon Healthcare after a long battle with Alzheimer's. Wayne Stephen Conklin was born May 13, 1944 in Belle Fourche, South Dakota, to Oscar Conklin and Margaret Mahoney Conklin. After military service, his dad's work in the timber industry had them living in the mountainous areas of Wyoming.     Constance "Connie" Colleen Shepard, 69 of Hulett, Wyoming, passed away on April 29, 2024 after a short illness. Connie was born in Sterling, Colorado on September 22, 1954 to Royce and Dorothea (Hall) Shepard. She attended grade schools in Belle Fourche, Arpan and Nisland, South Dakota. Connie attended high school in Newell and graduated from Belle Fourche High School in 1973.     The Sixth Judicial District officially has a fourth judge. Governor Mark Gordon announced last week that he has appointed Mike McGrady to fill the newly created role for the district that covers Crook, Campbell and Weston counties. A bill passed by the Wyoming Legislature earlier this year increased the number of judges in the district from three to four and appropriated $1.24 million to fund the additional judge for the first two years, beginning on July 1.     Wyoming’s average gas prices are down again this week CHEYENNE (WNE) — Average gasoline prices in Wyoming have fallen 1.3 cents per gallon in the last week, averaging $3.27 per gallon Monday, according to GasBuddy.com’s survey of 494 stations in Wyoming.
