The commencement exercises for the Hulett graduating class of 2024 were held last Sunday at the Hulett high school. 16 seniors participated in the ceremony and received their diplomas. Guest speaker was teacher Josh Willams. Valedictorian was Ahnya Ivie- Moody with salutatorian being Kaydence Westover. All gave profound and heartfelt speeches. Teacher Josh Willems brought over his class to check out the voting process in the town election. The Hulett municipal election was held last Tuesday with voters choosing two council people. Running were incumbent Brian Kennah, Friel Lynn and Kelly Maher. Only 43 voted out of 154 registered voters. The top vote-getters were Brian Kennah with 35 votes, Kelly Maher with 29 votes and Friel Lynn with 17 votes. The newly elected council people will be sworn into office at the June 5 town council...
Shirley Muñoz Newson was a guest author sponsored by the Hulett Library. Newson wrote the book The Little Dark One, a true story about being switched at birth. About 20 people attended to listen to Newson's life story. Her story is intriguing and very interesting about having the unthinkable happen to a family. A new drip-irrigation greenhouse has been built for the FFA program in Hulett. Edsel Redden, an FFA Honorary American Farmer, brought together a group of volunteers to construct the building. On May 16, students gathered with their Vocational Ag instructor and FFA advisor Taylor Starks to plant towers of vegetables. GILLETTE - In many ways, Kayla and Kori Amos are entirely different. They don't learn the same. Neither has the same morning routine. Nola Jean Bush, 86, of Saratoga, Wyoming, was called home on January 2, 2024. She was born in Arkansas in 1937 to Will and Ruth Vansickle. After graduating from Arkansas State Teachers College, she moved to Hulett, Wyoming where she married the love of her life, LeRoy Bush. Jean and LeRoy had three children, and then moved to Saratoga in 1968 to raise their family. Jean taught Home Economics and handled the bookkeeping for the family business (Lee’s Texaco). Gregory Scott Bush, 60, of Saratoga, Wyoming, was called home on March 26, 2024. He was born in Rapid City, South Dakota, in 1963 to LeRoy and Jean Bush. After graduating from the University of Wyoming, he moved to Japan to pursue his passion for teaching. He spent a total of ten years there before coming home. The last 20 years of his life were spent in Saratoga to help his parents. He is preceded in death by his father, LeRoy and his mother, Jean. Grizzly attack in Grand Teton was ‘surprise encounter’ JACKSON (WNE) — A grizzly bear attacked and injured a man visiting Grand Teton National Park on Sunday.
