    The Hulett Museum held a fun day last Friday when they held Dino day. Kids of all ages were invited to come to the museum and participate in fun activities and learn about dinosaurs. You could hatch a dinosaur egg, look at real dinosaur bones and even see a dinosaur egg. The museum is always doing such fun and educational programs; watch for future ones....

    Hulett students received 18 blue ribbons for pieces at State Art. Additionally, Elizabeth Jordan's photo "Say Cheese" received a First Lady's Award and went to Cheyenne to be displayed in the Governor's residence and Rachel Merwin's "War Horse" received a Congressional Award (placed second out of 25) and also went to Cheyenne to be displayed in the congress building.     Rustic romance was the theme of this year's Hulett Junior/Senior prom. The gym was decorated beautifully for the event and students were dressed elegantly. DJ Andy Bears started the night announcing the grand march followed by the announcement of the Queen and King. The 2024 Queen was McKyla Strong and the King Jax Wyka. After the crowning, parents and friends stayed to visit and take pictures and the after-prom party followed....

    Torrey Tope, 34 of Belle Fourche, South Dakota, passed away on April 22, 2024. Torrey Lavern Tope was born in Belle Fourche on March 20, 1990, to Jay and Wilma (Allen) Tope. He attended grade school at Billup School in Otter, Montana and Four Oaks in Crook County, Wyoming. He then finished his education being homeschooled with his siblings. Torrey graduated in 2008. He worked on the family ranches and eventually started his own scrap business in Belle Fourche, which he currently operated.... Full story

    Sometimes, it takes a fire to prevent a fire. The U.S. Forest Service (USFS) is proposing to target areas of the Bearlodge Ranger District in Crook County with planned burns, with the aim of improving the odds of managing future wildland fires safely and effectively. Hazardous fuels have built up within the estimated 8382 acres that have been identified, such as grass, brush and fallen trees.
